- 1 package phyllo pastry sheets
- 1 cup butter, melted
- 2 cups almonds, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 9x13 inch baking dish
- Medium saucepan

Method
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. 2. In a medium bowl, mix together the chopped almonds, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. 3. Brush the bottom of the baking dish with melted butter. 4. Lay one sheet of phyllo pastry in the dish and brush it with melted butter. 5. Repeat with 5 more sheets of phyllo, brushing each one with butter. 6. Sprinkle 1/3 of the almond mixture over the phyllo. 7. Top with 2 sheets of phyllo, brushing each one with butter. 8. Repeat the layers of almonds and phyllo until all of the almond mixture is used. 9. Top with 6 more sheets of phyllo, brushing each one with butter. 10. Brush the top layer with butter and cut the baklava into diamond-shaped pieces. 11. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown. 12. While the baklava is baking, make the syrup by combining the sugar, water, honey, and vanilla in a medium saucepan. 13. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. 14. When the baklava is done, remove it from the oven and pour the syrup over it. 15. Let the baklava cool before serving.Notes
